Your vision is your most important tool for work and daily life. Whether you are applying for a driving licence, starting a career in aviation or electronics, or suffering from screen fatigue, we provide the specific medical eye exams you need.
Driver Eyesight Reports (NDLS)
The National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) requires an eyesight report for specific licence applications.
When do you need an Eyesight Report?
-
First-time learners: When applying for a learner permit for the first time.
-
Renewal (Over 70s): If you are renewing your licence and are over 70 years of age.
-
Exchange: In certain cases when exchanging a licence from a non-EU country.
-
Change in Vision: If you previously wore glasses for driving but no longer require them (e.g., after laser surgery).
-
Group 2 Licences: For truck and bus drivers (higher visual standards apply).
Important: The eyesight report form is only valid for one month. We strongly recommend you pass your Theory Test before booking your eye exam to ensure your form does not expire.
Screening vs. Full Exam While a simple screening checks if you meet the legal minimum standard, we recommend a full comprehensive eye examination. A full exam can detect underlying issues that might affect your reaction times, such as depth perception or peripheral vision deficits. Even a slight prescription correction can make a significant difference to your safety, especially when driving at night.

Colour Vision Testing
Perfect colour vision is a prerequisite for many careers, including aviation (pilots), maritime, policing (An Garda Síochána), and electrical engineering.
Colour deficiency is often hereditary and more common in males. Many people are unaware they have a deficiency until they undergo a professional screening.
Our Services:
-
Ishihara Test: The standard screening test for colour perception.
-
Career Advice: We can advise parents and students on the visual requirements for specific career paths. For example, the visual standards for commercial pilots are extremely strict, whereas standards for electricians focus on specific wire colour recognition.
If you are considering a career with strict visual entry requirements, we recommend booking a consultation before investing in training courses.
VDU & Computer Eye Strain
Do you suffer from headaches, dry eyes, or blurred vision after a long day at the computer? This is often caused by Digital Eye Strain.
Standard reading glasses are often not suitable for computer work because the screen sits further away than a book. You may require “Intermediate Vision” lenses (Occupational Lenses) which are specifically designed to keep your screen in sharp focus while relaxing your eye muscles.
For Employees: If you work with Visual Display Units (VDUs) for a significant part of your day, your employer has certain obligations under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
