Policy Title: Display Screen Equipment (DSE) & Eye Care Policy

1. Entitlements In accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, [Company Name] ensures that all habitual VDU users are entitled to appropriate eye and eyesight tests.

2. Preferred Provider (Direct Billing) To minimise administration and personal expense, [Company Name] has appointed Mairead O’Leary Opticians as our Corporate Eye Care Partner.

  • Procedure: Obtain an authorization email from HR and book directly with any of the practices listed at www.maireadoleary.ie

  • Cost: The company will pay Mairead O’Leary Opticians directly for the eye examination and standard VDU lenses.

  • Frame Allowance: The company provides a contribution of €90.00 towards frames. Employees wishing to upgrade to designer frames above this allowance may do so by paying the difference directly to the optician, availing of the Corporate Privilege Club 10% discount.

3. Alternative Providers (Reimbursement) Employees are free to attend a practitioner of their choice. However, the company will only reimburse costs up to the following capped limits:

  • Standard Sight Test: Maximum reimbursement of €40.00, EYE360™ Diagnostics: €80.

  • Appliances: Maximum reimbursement of €100.00 for frames/lenses combined.

  • Procedure: Employees must pay their optician in full and submit a valid receipt along with a signed report from the optometrist confirming that the glasses are required specifically for VDU use.

4. Safety Eyewear Where Safety Eyewear (PPE) is required for industrial or lab environments, this is a separate provision. Please refer to the Safety Officer. Safety Eyewear must be sourced through Mairead O’Leary Opticians to ensure EN166 compliance; reimbursement is not available for safety eyewear purchased elsewhere without prior written approval.
